Wines Vineyard Truffière

Caelesta

Our goal is to showcase the potential of the Templeton Gap AVA for premium Rhône, Bordeaux, and Spanish varieties while creating a sustainable, family-operated ranch for generations to come. Our estate vineyard’s high elevation (1300’), diversity of vineyard aspects, and unique microclimates allow us to grow premium fruit that we will begin using for wine production in 2019. Coupled with rootstock and clone choices to restrict yield and enhance quality, we are excited to begin working with talented winemakers on the Central Coast to bring our love and dedication to this property to a bottle near you.

Caelesta Vineyard

Our vines were planted in 2017 on hillsides ranging from 1200′ to 1320′. Twenty-two blocks were planted with the goal of growing world-class grapes. For each block, we chose the grape variety that would produce the best fruit for that unique location. From there, we decided one what kind of rootstock, spacing, trellising, and orientation would lead to the best expression of our unique terroir.

Stewards of the land

Here at Caelesta, we aim to farm sustainably. Our vineyard soils are mainly made up of the Linne-Calodo soil complex, which is mineral rich, shallow, and well-draining. Its calcareous composition is reminiscent of the soils of the Rhône Valley in France.

Of our 200 acre property, 80 acres are open for wildlife and conservation efforts.
